We’re going to take you back a bit in the technology time continuum. This is part of a series of posts we’re publishing on the History of Technology. We’ve hand picked some key moments in technology that we think were significant. These are defining moments where technology pioneers created a product, a technology or a company… or did or said something of significance. The History of Technology 1970 to 1980

During this decade Arthur C. Clarke, author of 2001 A Space Odyssey, predicted that there would be a computer, by 2001, in every home. During this decade the Internet, originally called ARPAnet, was created by the US Defence Department and so was email, by Raymond Tomlinson,  as an application for ARPAnet. At the same time the first commercial phone was developed by Dr. Martin Cooper and his team at Motorola.
